BRITISH FOOD FORTNIGHT

23 September 2017

The British Food Fortnight runs at the same time as our traditional harvest festivals as this is when we all should be giving thanks for the natural food we eat. The celebration itself was established in 2002 in the wake of the dreadful foot and mouth disease outbreak and promotes buying and eating food from our home produced British larder.

Notes;

Over 4 million people in the UK are employed in the food sector in some way or another.

Food and drink manufacturing is Britain's largest single manufacturing sector.

Save small quantities of mashed veg and freeze. This can be used in soups and sauces and is a great way to get fussy eaters to eat more veg without realising it is even there.

Buy food in season and freeze the extra.
