Blue Monday is said to be the most depressing day of the year because the days are still short and dark, the weather is pretty dismal, all the bills come in from Christmas spending and there doesn't seem much to look forward too after all the excitement of the festive season.

Did you know that what you eat can make a BIG difference to how you feel. Some foods really are good for your mood and make you feel much better inside which of course shows on the outside too. When we feel good we smile more, are relaxed, confident, active and happy.


Coconut oil - this is a good fat which turns into energy quickly

Bananas - full of potassium which is good for the brian and great for energy too.

Nuts  - especially almonds, cashews, hazelnuts and brazil nuts are full of magnesium.

Kale  -  this leafy green is packed with vitamins and minerals.

Salmon  --  full of omega 3 fatty acids which are fuel for the brain.

Eggs  -  full of iron and protein.

Ginger  -  contains antioxidents that help with clear thinking.

Lentils   -  also chick peas and kidney beans are great for stabilising blood sugar levels and keeping your mood stable.

Goji berries  -  these little dried red berries have been used in Chinese medicin for thousands of years to combat stress.

Asparagus  -  is full of tryptophan which creates seratonin which is your brain's mood regulator.

Raw cacao  -  NOT milk chocolate! Dark chocolate over 70% is good for mood if only 1 - 2 squares eaten.
