CONTENTS

Beans contain little or no fat but are rich in complex carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals (including potassium, zinc, magnesium, copper and folate), antioxidents, protein and soluble fiber.

WHAT DO THEY DO?

Beans help to balance your blood sugar levels.

Their complex carbohydrate content helps you to feel fuller for longer and give you energy too.

The fiber content in beans helps to keep your bowels regular so you have a healthy gut and don't get constipated. Unfortunately this can mean they make you a little windy sometimes!

FUN FACTS

Beans have been carbon dated right back to 9750 BC.

You can eat them raw, bakes, boiled, sprouted, fermented like in soy sauce, curdles as in tofu or even ground into flour like chickpea flour.

Baked beans are the most popular type in the USA and UK.

Heinz are the biggest manufacturer and there are approximately 465 beans in a 415g can.

In 1967 the advertising slogan, Beanz Meanz Heinz was launched and has been the most popular advertising slogan of all time.
