Ferran Adrià's revolutionary cooking has made El Bulli the most famous restaurant in the world, with 400 requests for every table. Yet it still operates at a loss.


What do you like to cook and why?

I like to cook fish because I was born on a small island and the aroma brings back good memories


Why did you decide to become a chef?

Because I enjoy when people like my food, it is like a gift.


What do you remember about School dinners?

Well when I was in school usually I would help the chef,  and I remember the aroma from the tomato sauce, it was really nice.


What was your favourite school dinner?

I really liked the veal meatballs with a tomato sauce and chips.


What would be your perfect meal?

Well, a meal rich in vitamins is ideal.


What kitchen tool could you NOT live without?

Without my knives.


In your restaurant or premises who would be your ideal diner?

Capresse salad, Scottish baked salmon on a bed of vegetables and potatoes, and fresh fruit cocktail.

Where do you go when you want to eat at a restaurant?

In a fresh food restaurants.

Flour, tomatoes, olive oil, water and cheese.
